ABOUT
Leora Sanchez is a Yoga Alliance RYT 500-hour Hatha yoga teacher and Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist trained in the Himalayan tradition. She completed her 200-hour and 300-hour teacher trainings, along with her Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist certification, at the Himalayan Institute in Honesdale, Pennsylvania, where she also served as as Events Manager, Assistant Retreat Director, and Hospitality Director.

At the Himalayan Institute, Leora studied under respected teachers including Pandit Rajmani Tigunait, Rolf Sovik,PsyD, Ishan Tigunait, Sandra Anderson, Shari Friedrichsen, Judy Moulton, and Kathryn Templeton. She continues her study in meditation and yogic philosophy, integrating practice as lived experience.

But her path did not remain within the walls of the ashram.

Leora has traveled extensively through Europe, India, Denmark, and Mexico, and has crossed the United States by car more than once, tracing highways, coastlines, deserts, and mountain passes as a form of modern pilgrimage.

She has walked the ancient pilgrimage routes of Spain, completing the Camino de Santiago twice, the Camino Francés and a solo walk along the Camino del Norte. Those long days on foot, navigating various obstacles, carrying only what was necessary reshaped her understanding of resilience, surrender, and inner silence.
Walking taught her to keep going, travel light and return to breath.

These journeys across continents and inward landscapes have softened her heart, deepened her discernment, and strengthened her capacity to heal and begin again.
Today, Leora is based on the coast of California, where sunrise swims, morning light, and the steady rhythm of recovery shape her daily practice. After navigating cancer treatment and profound personal loss, her teaching has deepened into something quieter, more embodied and more about presence.

Her work now lives at the intersection of yoga, healing, and writing. Through her series Yoga Through Cancer she explores resilience, spiritual discernment, grief, and the return to health and joy.

Leora believes yoga is not just something we do on the mat, (although asana and meditation are important) it is how we stand inside uncertainty. It is how we breathe when life tightens. It is how we choose softness without surrendering strength. It is how we choose what’s best for ourself.

“In my spiritual quest to heal, connect and enrich my soul, I’ve stumbled upon the gift of sharing yoga through teaching. In my hopes of sharing yoga with you, I hope you too will discover the gifts of the breath, inner strength, stability, peace and healing, and a renewed discovery of the Divine within yourself”

Leora’s teaching style blends classical Hatha yoga with restorative and Ayurvedic principles. Her classes are grounded, intelligent, and deeply human, designed for real bodies and real lives.

When she is not teaching or writing, you’ll find her swimming at sunrise, wandering California’s coastline, painting, or joyfully getting lost only to discover she is right where she is meant to be.
