Someone once told me that one’s name should be considered a prayer and honored as such when spoken.
I inherited my name from my great Grandmother, Leora. I didn’t fully appreciate my name until I became an adult and discovered its Hebrew meaning. Leora; “From the Light of God” or a variation of that. In this discovery, I found my value in the world and have considered this meaning the true north of my moral compass. As I’ve navigated my way through my spiritual journey of life thru the practice of yoga, the meaning “of the light of God” seems even more profound as I learn to recognize the Divinity in myself as well in those that I share this world.
I’d like to dedicate this song Leora, written and performed by Anthony Greninger, to my Great Grandmother, Leora, whom I’ve never met. I can only hope that I am honoring her name and the woman that she was.
Thank you Anthony Greninger for the beautiful music that you are sharing with the world.
